Fresh & Free
Our Fresh & Free program works in partnership with other resident-serving organizations in Oakland and Alameda County to increase access to quality fruits and vegetables to those facing the highest barriers. Any organization interested in distributing produce for free to their community is eligible to partner.
We offer our partners a source of seasonal produce that is much more cost-effective, fresher, and higher quality than going to traditional retail outlets like grocery stores. MPD’s produce is organic or pesticide-free, grown by local, small-scale BIPOC farmers, and as a non-profit, we charge only a minimal markup to our partners to cover our costs. We also offer wellness education programming to complement the produce distribution. Together, we stretch our limited budgets further, and bring more produce and health to the people!
